Wesley E. Gleason, Jr.

Wesley E. Gleason, Jr. , 78, died at Tampa General Hospital Crystal River, FL on April 6, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Wesley was born in Carthage, NY on January 21, 1948, the oldest of 11 children of Wesley E. Gleason, Sr. and Melba Christman Gleason. Wes Graduated from Union Academy of Belleville, Belleville, NY in 1966 where he played football and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He also received an Associate Degree in Hospitality and Tourism from Jefferson Community College.

On May 30, 1972, he married the love of his life, the former Clover Ferguson of Redwood, NY.

Wes worked at Frink Snow Plow in Clayton as a welder; for 1000 Islands State Park & Recreation Commission as Assistant Manager at Westcott Beach State Park, Carl Fry implement in Depauville, Alexandria Central School as a computer tech and retired from Jefferson County Information Services as a computer Tech in 2005. From 1994 to 1997 he was Town Supervisor for the Town of Alexandria serving on the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors from 1994 to 1995. He was a certified lay speaker in the Methodist church and occasionally filled the pulpit at various churches.

He was a member of the Sackets Harbor and Cape Vincent Lions Club, Redwood Youth Organization, Jefferson county Democratic Committee, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Redwood Fire department and was also an honorary member of the Alexandria Central School FFA.

In later years, he and his wife, Clover, played bluegrass-gospel music and sang at various functions including nursing homes, coffee houses and churches. They were also Santa and Mrs. Claus for several organizations at Christmas time.

He is survived by his wife, Clover, son Scott, Redwood; daughters Tina (Scott) Jaques, Inverness, FL; and Tammy (Mike) Waterworth, Inverness, FL; his brothers George (Martha ) of Watertown; Gary (Marilyn), Inverness; Mike (LouAnn) Ellisburg; Philip (Michelle), Chaumont; Tim (Michelle), Las Vegas; and Tom, Henderson; sisters Judy (Jamie) McNett, Taburg; Karen (Tim) Grandjean, Henderson; sister-in-law Debra, Adams; granddaughter Alexis Jaques , Alexandria Bay; grandson Brandon (Taylor) Jaques, Citrus Springs; grandsons Tanner and Wesley Waterworth of Inverness; as well as 3 great grandsons, many nieces and nephews, 3 aunts, and an uncle and many cousins He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Carl and Ronald Gleason

At his request there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of life is planned for a later date. Donations may be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital or St. Jude.
