Wendy S. Vaniglia

May 30, 1956 — February 11, 2026

Wellesley Island, NY

Wendy S. Vaniglia, 69, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Westminster Park on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Born in Utica, NY, on May 30, 1956, to Edgar and Doris Newman, Wendy was a graduate of Poland High School. Following high school, she was married for 25 years, raising her three children in the Schenectady and Ballston Lake area.

Later in life, Wendy loved sharing her time between Florida and New York, residing in the Jupiter/West Palm Beach area and eventually made her home on Wellesley Island, NY, though she continued to spend most of her winters in Florida.

Wendy’s professional life was defined by service and creativity. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for young children and later served as a Director for Creative Memories. After moving to the River, she served as the Office Manager for 1000 Islands Scenic Tours. Beyond her career, Wendy was a fierce advocate for organ donation, serving as a long-time volunteer with the "MOD Squad" (Mothers of Donors) for Donate Life America.

An avid artist, Wendy loved capturing the beauty of nature through her paintings. She found great joy in evening boat rides and the peace of the water.

Wendy is survived by her longtime partner, Ed Peters; her son, Robert Vaniglia and his wife, Miriam; and five cherished grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Becky Newman, Nancy Goodney, and Patricia “Mary” Newman; and her brother, Jesse Newman.

She was predeceased by her two beloved daughters, Candice Vaniglia and Aimee Vaniglia-Knauff.

In her final act of kindness, Wendy was an organ and tissue donor.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring at the River, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either:  Donate Life America at donatelife.net/how-you-can-help/contribute/give-to-dla OR ConnectLife at  connectlife.org/make-a-financial-contribution
