Sadie M. Garlock

Sadie M. Garlock, 82, Alexandria Bay, NY, passed away at home on Sunday December 14th, under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County, with her loving family at her side.

Sadie was born in Alexandria Bay on January 18, 1943, the daughter of Andrew and Susan Bishop LaFirst. She was educated in Alexandria Bay schools and later bartended at the family-owned Flat Rock Café in Plessis, NY for many years. She also worked for a variety of establishments while living in Syracuse, NY

After returning to Alexandria Bay from Syracuse, Sadie received her C.N.A. through BOCES. She then worked for Hospice of Jefferson County and later became a caregiver on her own, helping many families in the Alex Bay area.

She had marriages to David Eggleston, Thomas Gizzi, who passed away in 1981, and Alvin Garlock, who passed away May 9th, 2025.

Sadie is survived by her sons: Joseph Eggleston, Redwood, NY; Michael Eggleston, Rossie, NY: and Joseph "JoJo" (Debra) Gizzi, Alexandria Bay, NY; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister Teresa (Gary) Hogan, Alexandria Bay, NY; a brother Butch LaFirst, Syracuse, NY; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her two husbands, she is predeceased by her sons David Eggleston and Tucker Eggleston; her niece Kimberly Blount; her brother Andy LaFirst; and her sister Lorraine.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held Saturday January 3rd from 2-5 at the Alexandria Bay American Legion, 9 Rock St. Alexandria Bay.
