Rosalie J. Burns, 85, long-time resident of Wellesley Island, NY, passed away January 30 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.

Rosalie was born on April 17,1940 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Floyd M and Beverly Pooler Roberts. She attended Fabius Central School and then received her associate’s degree from Jefferson Community College, Watertown, NY.

She married Milton Burns on October 31,1959 at Apulia Station, NY. Mr. Burns passed away in 2019.

Rosalie worked for many years as a cashier for the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority at the Boldt Yacht House attraction. She was a member of the Wellesley Island Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters Alison (companion Charlie Scott), Wellesley Island, and April (Clifford) Rossiter, Canton, NY, and her granddaughter Natasha Rossiter. Besides her husband Milton, she was predeceased by her sister Susan.

A memorial service and burial at Riverside Cemetery, Wellesley Island, will be held in the spring, at a time to be announced.

Memorial donations may be made in Rosalie’s name to the Wellesley Island Fire Department or the Jefferson County SPCA.
