February 24, 2016 Alexandria Bay, NY – Michael L. Gribuski, 76, passed away early Wednesday morning at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, where he had been a patient since September. He was born November 12, 1939 in Utica, NY, son of Albert and Alice Stotler Gribuski. He graduated from New Hartford High School, attended St. Bonaventure University, graduated from Ithaca College and then received his master’s degree from Brockport College. Mike proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1962 to 1964. He married Linda L. Gibson on July 25, 1964 in California, PA. He began his career as an educator teaching physical education at McQuaid Jesuit High School for four years. He then moved to Frederick Douglas Junior High School for 28 years as their PE teacher.  During that time he was also a golf instructor at Rush Henrietta High school later assisting with the oversight of their adult education classes while teaching driver education at Monroe Community College as an adjunct professor. He was also an assistant golf pro at Thunder Ridge Golf Club, a member of the Alexandria Bay American Legion and played on the Alexandria Bay Men’s Golf League for many years. Besides his wife, Linda, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Mrs. David (Kelley) Peyman of Newcastle, Ontario and Mrs. Matthew (Kerrie) Dunker of Gerrards Cross, United Kingdom, five grandchildren; Harrison and Jarrett Sweet and Avery, Sloane and Anderson Dunker as well as sister-in-law Susan Stoelting of Clayton, NY. Per Mike’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.  However, his daughters will be taking the plunge at the 26th Annual Friends of the River Hospital’s Polar Dip in his honour.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the River Hospital via:  https://www.gofundme.com/polardipk2s Arrangements are with Costello Funeral Service, Alexandria Bay.
