Martin A Cole

January 7, 1955 — July 16, 2025

Formerly of Alexandria Bay, NY

Rev Martin (Marty) Allen Cole passed away at the age of 70 in his home in Ocean Park, WA after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He stepped into his Heavenly home while surrounded by his loving family. Pastor Marty, served faithfully in the as a Village Missions affiliated pastor for almost 33 years including serving at Ocean Park Community Church for almost 25 of those years.

Marty was born on January 7th, 1955 in Alexandria Bay, NY. He was the third of eight children born to Lawrence and Frances Cole. Marty graduated from Alexandria Bay High School in 1973. After coming to faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ in 1977, he moved out to Montana where he was mentored by his Sunday School teachers, Dallas and Edna Munter, who became like surrogate parents to him until he went Big Sky Bible College in 1980 where he met Cindy Drake, whom he later married in Dilley, OR in August of 1982.

After Marty and Cindy had their “miracle baby” Jonathan, Marty went back to Bible school to study to be a pastor at Montana Bible College in 1990. After graduating in 1992, Marty and Cindy joined Village Missions and served in Friant, CA, Foresthill, CA and Camp Creek, OR before being sent to Ocean Park, WA in 2000 where he served the Lord for the rest of his life.

While serving in Ocean Park, he was a volunteer chaplain with Pacific County Fire District #1, Golden Sands Assisted Living and was a contracted chaplain at the Naselle Youth Camp. As part of his ministry with OPCC he helped reestablish their AWANA program, continued the Men Of The Cross ministry and many men’s retreats. Marty could often be found around the church working on maintenance issues or doing service projects for widows or folks from the church who were sick or needed odd jobs around their property. It was common to see him up high on a cherry picker lift painting or pressure washing somebody’s house or splitting a chord of firewood for anyone who could not process their own. Whatever someone needed he gave his all. He loved spending time with friends, parishioners and family and playing his guitar wherever he went with a smile on his face and joy in his heart.

After his cancer diagnosis in early 2025, he continued his resolve to serve the Lord and the people of OPCC and he did so up until he stepped into the loving embrace of Jesus his Savior on July 16th, 2025. Marty is survived by his wife of 42 years Cindy Cole of Ocean Park; his son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Jackie Cole of Ocean Park; siblings Rita Hall of Ocean Park, WA; Barry (Evelyn) Cole of Salem, SC; Dorry Cole of Waddington, NY; Tom (Heather) Cole of Alexandria Bay, NY; Charlie (Heather) Cole of RI and Willard (Luchie) Cole of Alexandria Bay, NY. He is preceded in death by his father Lawrence Cole, his mother Frances Cole Estes, his younger sister Amy Cole, and his mentors “Pop and Mom” Dallas and Edna Munter.
