Madelyn E. Fleury

Madelyn E. Fleury died on May 12th at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY

Madelyn was born in Watertown to Harry and Muriel Fleury. She grew up on East Main Street and attended Watertown High School. A business degree from Jefferson Community College led to a job at Sears, Roebuck and Company, a job she loved and held for more than 30 years, working in sales, billing, and security. As Sears expanded their store locations, Madelyn traveled throughout the Northeast training new employees.

“Mannie” could tell a good joke, a skill she learned working with mostly men at Sears. She adopted a series of cats, including Nutley, who was named following a road trip to New Jersey. She enjoyed visiting her family in Alexandria Bay, spending many a summer weekend on the River at Number 9 Island and winter holidays around the Christmas tree at the “Big House” on Church Street.

Survivors include her sister Audrey Corley, Alexandria Bay, nephews Mark Henry (Cheryl), Christopher Henry (Sarah), Nicholas Henry (Janelle), Russell Henry (Trina), Matthew Fleury (Elise), Roderick Fleury (Nancy), David Fleury, Bruse Fleury (Rebecca); and nieces Renee Morrison, Caryn Montague (David), and Marthe Whitney (Jerry).

She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Muriel, and her brother Roderick Fleury.

There will be no calling hours or services as per her wishes.
