James E. "Jigger Jim" Boicourt

James E. “Jigger Jim” Boicourt, 76, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 30th, at University Hospital, in Syracuse.

He was born June 6, 1950, in Syracuse, NY, son of Oren and Edwina Brown Boicourt.

Jim graduated from Corcoran High School, in Syracuse and served in the Air National Guard, from 1969-1975.

He married Kathy Marcellus-Ryder on July 29, 1985, in Rossie, NY.

He worked for over 30 years as a job setter for New Process Gear – Chrysler, in Syracuse, retiring in 2006. Following retirement, he worked for 15 years for the Log Cabins & Bait Shop, on Black Lake, a job he truly loved. He was such a jokester. He made everyone who came in that store laugh and smile. Generations of families will always remember him. He made it his life’s mission to teach the next generation about fishing. Anyone who has ever met him, even for a minute, will always have a story to tell.

Jim was an avid bowler, hunter and tournament bass fisherman, which he enjoyed with his son, Seth. He volunteered for the Junior Bass Masters, as well as at the fish hatchery in Constantia.

Besides his wife, Kathy, he is survived by four sons, Seth Boicourt, Ogdensburg, NY, Jason Ryder, Theresa, NY, Matthew (Tonya) Boicourt, South Carolina, and Keith (Molly) Boicourt, Buffalo, NY, a daughter, Skye Ryder (Chad) McCauley, Alexandria Bay, a brother, John (Mary Anne) Boicourt, Georgia, eleven grandchildren, David Pitts, Emily Frickey, Ashley Angus, Brody McCauley, Theron McCauley, Baron Ryder, Henrik Ryder, Collin Boicourt, Carter Boicourt, Olivia Boicourt and Aidan Boicourt, seven great grandchildren, Eli Frickey, Lincoln Angus, Elliot Angus, Lucca Angus, Ezra Angus and Preston Pitts, as well as his beloved Yorkies, Blu and Tucker. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jenny Spaulding and a brother, Robert Boicourt.

A celebration of life reception will be held at a time to be announced.
