Grant Douglas “Doug” Rogers, 82, passed away on Tuesday evening, August 25th.
He was born February 28, 1944, in Alexandria Bay, NY, son of Grant A. and Betty V. Rogers Root. He graduated from Alexandria Central High School and attended trade school in Watertown as a machinist.
He served in the US Army from 1966-1968
Doug worked as a machine operator for the New York Airbrake, in Watertown, for many years. He was also a licensed fishing guide and a member of the Alexandria Bay Fishing Guides Association.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the Alexandria Bay American Legion, and owned the Big Sister Island, in Goose Bay.
He is survived by his son, Craig W. Rogers, his granddaughter, Abigail Rogers, a brother, Rupert “Snooker” (Paula) Rogers, a sister, Terry (Richard) Hartman, and many nieces and nephews.
Per Doug’s wishes, services will be private.
Memorial donations may be made in Doug’s name to the Alexandria Bay American Legion, 9 Rock St, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607
