Francesca “Frannie Fran’’ Spiotta Loy, age 53 of Clayton, passed away Thursday, December 28th, at her home. She was born on August 21st, 1970 in Batavia, New York at Genesee Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth ‘’Betty’’ Frisby Spiotta.
Frannie attended Batavia public schools and then Alfred State College, Alfred, NY, where she was a sister of Delta Chi Omega sorority.
She married the love of her life, John Loy, in Key West, Florida on December 12th, 2016.
Frannie loved the St. Lawrence River and first came to the River in 1991 for a summer job at The Riverboat in Alexandria Bay. She was an entrepreneur at heart and started her first successful business, Sun Shack, in the Bay and then purchased and operated Good Dog Charlie’s in 2021. She was always active in her community and often volunteered her time to help local animal shelters. She was an incredible friend to so many and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, John Loy, Clayton, her mother, Elizabeth, ‘’Betty’’ Spiotta, Batavia, NY, her brother, Nicholas Spiotta, Buffalo, NY, and her sister Julie (Mark) Harasimowiz, Batavia, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her dad, Nicholas Spiotta, and her brother, Michael Spiotta.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. A funeral mass will be held at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, Alexandria Bay, on Wednesday, January 3rd at 11:00 am.
