Dierdre E.M. Beers

Oct 22, 1976 — Aug 13, 2026

Alexandria Bay, NY

Deirdre E.M. Beers, 49, passed away Thursday, August 13th, at River Hospital.

She was born, October 22, 1976, in Alexandria Bay, NY, daughter of Richard Garlock and Wendy Beers. She graduated from Alexandria Central High School in 1994, and then from LeMoyne College, in 1997, with a BS in Business.

Deirdre worked for several finance companies, most notably, as an operations director for Quicken Loans, based in Charlotte, NC.

She is survived by her son, Matthew, Alexandria Bay, her mother, Wendy Beers, Vero Beach, FL, two brothers, David Garlock and Matthew (Amy) Garlock, and two sisters, Jennifer Garlock and Marcia Slocum, all of Alexandria Bay.

Deirdre was so much more than her career. She was a kind person, who was always there for others. She was fun and full of life and she had a way of making sure everyone around her was having a good time. She loved to travel. She was everybody’s favorite travel buddy, always ready for the next travel adventure. She was known for her beautiful smile and brought warmth to every room. She loved being surrounded by her people and was often the one to buy the next round before anyone else had the chance. Her energy was infectious and so was her laugh. If Deirdre was laughing, chances were that everyone else around her was laughing too. She was generous and selfless and always willing to help someone find their footing. Everyone who knew Deirdre knew she would be the first to offer help, support and encouragement. She had a gift for seeing the potential in people and helped many build a better life, whether that meant helping them find a job, supporting them through a difficult time or simply reminding them what they are capable of. She was a true cheerleader for the people she loved, always celebrating their accomplishments and lifting them up when they needed it most.

She was also one of the strongest and most resilient people anyone could know. No matter what life put in front of her, Deirdre kept going. She faced challenges with strength, determination and an incredible ability to continue showing up for the people she loved.

Above all else, Deirdre was Matt’s mom. Matthew was her whole world and everything she did was with him in mind. She worked hard to give him a full and happy life, loved him fiercely and was endlessly proud of him. Being his mother was the greatest role of her life and she was also the cherished daughter of her own mom, Wendy.

We also cannot leave out her love for the animal kingdom. There was never a dog she didn’t love or a kitty that would be meowing at her back door or in a parking lot, looking for a home. She always had room in her life for all creatures who needed nurturing and care.

A celebration of life reception will be held at a time to be announced.
