Christopher J. Forshaw, 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday morning, April 4, 2026.
Born on January 5, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Charles and Gloria Caylor Forshaw. Chris was raised in Riverside, California, where he graduated from high school before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. He often reflected with pride on his military service, especially as the only one among his father’s sons to follow in those footsteps.
Following his service, Chris built a long and steady career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier based out of Watertown, New York. Known for his reliability and friendly demeanor, he became a familiar and welcome presence to many along his route. After retiring from the Postal Service, he continued working in sales, bringing his personable nature and easygoing style to customers at Crown Nissan in St. Petersburg, Florida, and later at Davidson Nissan in Watertown, New York.
On August 18, 2008, Chris married Margaret “Liz” Tackett in Florida. Together, they shared years of love, companionship, laughter, and a life centered around family.
Chris was a devoted father to his son, Jordan Tackett-Forshaw of Alexandria Bay, and took great pride in the man he became. He was known not only for his love for his own family but also for the care and guidance he extended to his son’s friends and others who crossed his path. Many remember Chris for his generous spirit, kind heart, and willingness to lend support whenever it was needed.
An avid dog lover, Chris had a special bond with his beloved Doberman, Dahlia. He also had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and history, particularly antique boats. He dedicated significant time and effort to restoring a classic wooden boat, a project that earned him recognition and an award from the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, New York—a source of great pride.
In addition to his wife, Liz, and his son, Jordan, Chris is survived by his siblings, along with many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. He also shared a special bond with his mother-in-law, Debbie Mullins.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held this summer at the family camp, with details to be announced at a later date.
