Beverly J. Freeman, 77, Alexandria Bay, passed away at River Hospital on May 16th after a brave fight with ovarian cancer.
Beverly was born on November 4, 1947 in Lowville, NY, the daughter of Thomas and Marjorie Wood Cody. She attended Lowville and Watertown, NY schools.
She married John Freeman on August 29, 1963 in Watertown.
Beverly worked as a housekeeper at River Hospital, retiring in 2009. She enjoyed family time and going to the casino. She was the Trustee at Stone Mills Agricultural Museum, a longtime supporter and member of the Thousand Islands Bluegrass Association, and Chaplain of the John B. Lyman Unit 904 American Legion for many years.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Sherry Countryman and Angel (Rick) Countryman, Alexandria Bay, her husband John, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Brothers, Homer, Charles, and Ernest Cody, all pre-deceased her.
A celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, June 14th at the American Legion, Alexandria Bay, from 12 noon until 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Beverly’s name to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center at claxtonhepburn.org.
