Aileen E. Mathous

Theresa, NY Aileen E. Mathous, 83, of Creek Road, passed away Thursday morning at her home. She was born August 7, 1934 in the town of Alexandria, daughter of Robert B. and Mildred Mae Staie. She was educated in Alexandria Bay schools. She married Roger M. Mathous on November 7, 1952. Mr. Mathous died October 22, 1980. Aileen worked for many years as a deli clerk for P&C Food Market in Watertown, retiring in 2007. She enjoyed her pets, riding motorcycles, bowling, line dancing and watching motor cross races. She is survived by three sons, Randy(Theresa), Waddington, NY, Jefferey(Tammy), Redwood, NY and Shane, Theresa, NY, four daughters, Colleen Papin, LaFargeville, NY, Dawn Bartlett, Watertown, NY, Rene(Cy) Jones, Norfolk, NY, and Holley(Mark) Holder, Redwood, NY, a brother Vernon(Amy) Staie, Theresa, NY and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Brian and Shawn Mathous, three grandchildren, Freedom Sessions, Robert Bartlett, and Heather Chambers, and her longtime companion, Emery Allen. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 27th, from 1-3 pm at the Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. The funeral will be at 3 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff McIllrath, officiating. Burial will be at the family’s convenience at Brookside Cemetery, Plessis. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
